POSTS HALL
The posts played a significant role in the history of the country. They were places where horses could be replaced to allow travellers to continue their journey. They were located at a distance of between 4 and 8 leagues.
In most cases, they were austere constructions, with stone and adobe walls, thatched roofs, and little furniture, which provided food and lodging for travellers and muleteers.
They were the backbone of a colonial messaging system, and they were also where the revolts took place and where the santiagueños who offered their lives to the emancipation movement departed from.
